- Chair’s Remarks
The Chair welcomed members to the first Committee meeting of the governance year, and introduced himself as incoming Chair.
The Chair then provided an overview of the Committee membership, function, and procedures. He noted that background materials were available on the Committee’s Resources section of the governance portal, as well as on the Committee’s website.
Approvals by Electronic Ballot
The Chair noted that prior to the Committee’s first meeting, there had been a need, because of time constraints, to consider several academic administrative appointments by means of electronic ballot. He read the resolutions of September 10, 2021.

The Chair reminded members that on June 24, 2021, the Council approved the annual delegation of authority to the President to act on behalf of the Governing Council during the summer months. The Chair reported that the following four academic administrative appointments were approved under the Agenda Committee’s Summer Executive Authority by means of electronic ballot.
The Report on Approvals Under Summer Executive Authority was received by the Committee for information. There were no questions from members.

- Calendar of Business and Terms of Reference
The Committee reviewed the 2021-2022 Agenda Committee Calendar of Business. The Chair then reviewed the Committee’s Terms of Reference. He noted that much of the work undertaken by the Agenda Committee involved confirmation of the Academic Board agenda and approval of Academic Administrative Appointments. He encouraged members to review the Terms of Reference if they had not already done so.
- Academic Board – Review and Approval of Agenda – October 12, 2021
The Committee reviewed and confirmed the agenda for the October 12, 2021 Academic Board meeting.
The Board’s agenda focused on the Orientation of new members, as well as the Bicentennial Campaign, and revisions to the Policy on Capital Planning and Capital Projects. Acting Provost, Professor Trevor Young would deliver his report first to the Board. The Report of the Vice-President and Provost would include a brief update on the University’s response to the ongoing challenges presented by the pandemic, as well as policies and procedures put in place to ensure a safe return to on campus activity and in person instruction.

Report 279 from the meeting of June 23, 2021, was approved.

There was no business arising from the Report of the previous meeting.
- Date of the Next Meeting – November 4, 2021
The Chair advised members that the Committee would next meet on November 4, 2021, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.

The Chair reviewed the responsibilities of the Striking Committee and the process for establishing its membership.
