Rithik Sreekumar
Samuel Kamalendran is a fourth-year Honours Bachelor of Arts student at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM), majoring in Political Science and minoring in English and Classics.
Mr. Kamalendran has held a number of leadership roles across student governance, journalism, and research. Through his roles as Editor-in-Chief of The Medium, President of the Political Science Students’ Association, and Team Lead at UTM’s International Education Centre, he has worked to advance student engagement and contribute to institutional decision-making processes.
His governance experience includes serving as Chair of UTM’s Quality Service to Students Committee, undergraduate representative on the UTM Campus Affairs Committee, and Treasurer of The Varsity’s Board of Directors.
Mr. Kamalendran is also actively engaged in research. He was a 2025 Laidlaw Scholar and a 2026 Reach Alliance Researcher and has conducted equity, diversity, and inclusion research with the Institute for the Study of University Pedagogy (ISUP) at UTM.
As a member of Governing Council, Mr. Kamalendran looks forward to contributing a student perspective to discussions that support and enhance the University of Toronto community.
