Mark Surchin
Mark Surchin retired from the partnership of Goodmans LLP at the end of 2024 and now serves as Senior Counsel at Founders LLP, where he continues his corporate and debt finance practice.
Mr. Surchin currently devotes much of his professional time to governance and board leadership. He is a Bencher of the Law Society of Ontario and Co-Chair of its Audit and Finance Committee. He also serves as Chair of LawPRO, the insurance provider for Ontario lawyers. In 2025, he earned the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
A committed University of Toronto volunteer, Mr. Surchin recently completed his term as President of the Law Alumni Association at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and is the recipient of the University’s Arbor Award. He also teaches Business Organizations as Adjunct Faculty in the Global Professional Master of Laws (GPLLM) program at the Faculty of Law.
Mr. Surchin previously served for four years on the University of Toronto’s College of Electors, including as Vice-Chair. His governance experience also includes three terms on the Board of Trustees of Brandeis University, where he chaired several board committees.
Mr. Surchin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics, with high honours, summa cum laude, and Phi Beta Kappa, from Brandeis University, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toronto’s Jackman Law.
