Avrum Gotlieb has a distinguished career as an award-winning scholar and educator. He was a cardiovascular pathologist at the University Health Network and a senior scientist at the Toronto General Research Institute investigating the cell and molecular biology of atherosclerosis. Dr. Gotlieb is the founding Chair of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology in the Faculty of Medicine, former Interim Vice-Dean, Research and International Affairs and former Interim Vice-Dean, Graduate and Life Science Education in Medicine. He was Senior Academic Advisor to the Dean of Medicine. He has written papers on education, and booklets and a book on mentorship and career development in pathology and in life sciences research. He is currently developing professional graduate programs in Medicine and is a Connaught Scholar involved in translational medicine. He is a Senior Fellow of the Association of Pathology Chairs (Bethesda, MD) where he participates and publishes on Boot Camp for new chairs and the Pathology Leadership Academy. 

Dr. Gotlieb received a BSc and MDCM from McGill University.
