MONDAY, February 24, 2025


Minutes of the College of Electors meeting held on February 24, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber:

OPEN SESSION

  1. Chair’s Remarks


    The Chair welcomed members and guests to the meeting.

On motion duly moved, seconded, and carried, the College moved In Camera.

  1. Election of Alumni Governors


    The 2024-2025 Nominating Committee for Alumni Governors (NC-AG) reported to the College on the interviews of candidates that had been held and on the Committee’s recommendations.

    Discussion of each candidate then took place, and the NC-AG responded to questions posed by members.

    The following were elected as alumni members of the Governing Council:

Mathangi (Indi) Gopinathan re-elected to the Governing Council, for a three-year term from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028.  

R. Scott MacKendrick re-elected to the Governing Council, for a three-year term from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028.  

Eha Naylor re-elected to the Governing Council, for a three-year term from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028.

The Chair expressed thanks to the members of the College and the NC-AG for their work.  The Chair reminded members about the importance of confidentiality regarding all of the candidates and the COE discussions, to be maintained in perpetuity.

On motion duly moved, seconded, and carried, the College moved into open session.

  1. Nomination Process 2025-2026 Executive Committee of the College of Electors (NC-EC)


    The Chair provided some background information about the membership process for the Executive Committee outlined in the Constitution.  Continuing members were encouraged to consider applying to serve on the 2025-2026 Executive Committee.

    Members in their fourth year had previously volunteered at the May 15, 2024,COE meeting to serve on the 2024-2025 NC-EC. They were: George P. Buldo (Temerty Faculty of Medicine); Nick Pantaleo (St. Michael’s College); and Nakia Lee-Foon (Victoria College).

    Outgoing member of the Executive Committee, KimEija Taipaleenmaki shared her experiences on the Committee.

    The application deadline was March 20, 2025. The NC-EC would prepare a recommendation to the College for its final meeting in May.
  2. Report of the Previous Meeting – January 21, 2025

    On motion duly moved, seconded, and carried,

    The minutes of the meeting of January 21, 2025 were approved.
  3. Business Arising from the Report of the Previous Meeting


    There was no business arising from the report of the previous meeting.
  4. Date of the Next Meeting – May 12, 2025, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.


    The Chair noted that the next meeting of the College of Electors was scheduled to be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on May 12, 2025.
  5. Other Business


    There was no other business.
