William Verreault is a PhD student and Vanier Scholar in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Toronto. He completed his MSc in Mathematics at Université Laval in 2023 and immediately embarked on his PhD journey at the University of Toronto, continuing his pursuit of mathematical excellence. William’s passion for mathematics was ignited during his first year of cégep by an inspiring professor who unveiled the beauty and depth of abstract mathematics. This early influence, coupled with his participation in reading courses and math competitions, showed him that mathematics transcends mere rote learning and number crunching, embodying both art and science. 

As an active member of the mathematical community, William has been involved with the Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) and served as Chair of the CMS Student Committee from 2020 to 2021. His leadership and commitment to fostering a vibrant mathematical community are marked by his dedication to advancing the field and inspiring others. Throughout his academic career, William has been honored with over twenty scholarships and awards, including the prestigious Governor General's Academic Medal. His research has led to numerous conference presentations worldwide and the publication of over a dozen papers in fundamental mathematics. His work spans a diverse array of topics including analysis, geometry, number theory, probability, and combinatorics.
