Heather Anderson brings over 25 years of leadership experience in public service, specializing in strategic communications, marketing, public affairs, community engagement and organizational effectiveness. She is currently the Director, Communications & Engagement at the City of Hamilton and a member of the City’s Senior Leadership Team, contributing to enterprise-level decision-making, shaping organizational strategy and bringing the City's brand to life through impactful storytelling and engagement.

She is recognized for translating complex issues into clear, strategic narratives that inspire action, build trust and strengthen community outcomes. Her leadership drives initiatives that enhance public understanding, foster meaningful connections and support Council’s decision-making. She combines strategic vision with a focus on high-performing, resilient teams and collaborative relationships across Council, staff and the public, creating value and lasting impact for the community.

Previously, Heather held senior roles at Halton Region, Infrastructure Ontario, Ontario Securities Commission and OMERS. She holds an HBA with a Specialist in English and a Minor in Professional Writing from UTM, a Master’s certificate in Innovation Leadership from Schulich ExecEd and a Professional Editing Standards certificate from Queen’s University. Outside of work, she is an avid writer and reader and a proud mother of two.
