Ms Shennel Simpson is a second year student at UTSC, double majoring in population health and human biology and minoring in psychology. She works as a breakfast program coordinator at BGC East Scarborough, which involves tutoring, meal prepping, and facilitating activities at various public schools for students. During her first year, she was a first year representative for the Scarborough Campus Student Union, Health and Society Student Association, Diversity in STEM Club, Diabetes Awareness Society, and Pre-Pharmacy Students Association. She also volunteers as a mentor for the Imani Mentorship Program, Rare Diseases Foundation, MEDLife, FWD Radio, Athletics Advisory Committee, and as a Student Ambassador for the Student Recruitment and Admissions Office. Outside of University, she volunteers as an admin assistant at Sickkids Hospital in the Orthopedics Department, and as a Sunday school teacher and tech assistant at Progress Church. She is also a member of Mitzie Hunter's Youth Advisory Council, she helps create plans to combat food insecurity, homelessness, gun violence within schools, and mental health with a group of students from Scarborough-Guildwood. Shennel has a passion for writing spoken word poems, and connecting people to the resources they need to succeed.
