As Chief Librarian, Shelley leads a team of librarians and staff in the provision of library services and programming which support the academic mission of UTM. Spending over 25 years in leadership roles at the UTM Library, Shelley has served as Head, Technical Services, Coordinator, Collection Management, and Associate Librarian, Collections and Scholarship. Shelley has provided expertise in the areas of metadata management, collection development, copyright, and scholarly communication. Under Shelley’s leadership, the UTM Library was one of the first academic libraries in Canada to implement a highly effective librarian liaison model of service and became part of the library’s tri-campus collaborative team, which continues to work together to build UofT’s world ranked research collection. Ms Hawrychuk was first elected in 2015 to Campus Council and is in her third term on the UTM Campus Council, which ends on June 30, 2024.
