Policy with Respect to Cutbacks in Support for Campus and Student
Services
In response to further reductions in base budget support for campus and student services, the
administration should explore the following alternatives in the order in which they are listed:
(a) models of functional consolidation which would permit savings without a significant curtailment
of service;
(b) the introduction of user fees to recover the cost of specific service functions which are secondary
to the purpose of the unit or which are available, by definition, to a limited number of users;
(c) the elimination of one or more functions within a unit;
(d) the closing down of one or more service units;
(e) the introduction of "general services fee" which would transfer a portion of the operating cost of
the services as a whole to student-users, or an increase in one or more of the present incidental
fees related to individual services.
