“Teaching Staff” means employees of the University who hold the academic rank of Professor; Associate Professor; Assistant Professor; Professor, Teaching Stream; Associate Professor, Teaching Stream; Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream; Lecturer and Senior Lecturer; Tutor and Senior Tutor; Assistant Professor (Conditional); Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream (Conditional); Sessional Lecturer I, Sessional Lecturer II, Sessional Lecturer III, Athletics Instructor and Senior Athletics Instructor but does not include any part-time lecturer who is registered as a student. For this purpose, “Lecturer” also includes Associates in the Faculty of Dentistry.

Julie Garlen
Julie C. Garlen is a Professor of Teacher Education in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning. Before joining OISE, she served as Director of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies and a member of the Senate Quality Assurance and Planning Committee at Carleton University (Ottawa). She has extensive experience in academic leadership as a director of both undergraduate and graduate programs and as a member of numerous university-level committees, including faculty senate. As a member of Governing Council, she will be committed to advancing the university's academic mission of excellence in teaching and research through ethical and responsible leadership.
Angela Pyle
I am excited by the prospect of joining the University of Toronto’s Governing Council. Over the past 11 years, I have contributed to the OISE community as a researcher, teacher, and leader. My roles as Interim Director of JICS, and Chair of the EdD and MA Child Studies in Education programs have equipped me with valuable leadership skills. My committee involvement, including OISE Council and Academic Planning, has provided me with insights into university processes and enhanced my ability to mentor students and collaborate with colleagues. I am committed to supporting OISE’s mission and values, promoting equity, inclusion, and excellence.
