Stark Draper is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering (FASE) at the University of Toronto. Professor Draper’s research interests include information theory, optimization, error-correction coding, security, and the application of tools and perspectives from these fields in communications, computing, learning, and astronomy. 

As a research scientist he has worked at the Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratory MERL, Disney’s Boston Research Lab, Arraycomm Inc., and the C. S. Draper Laboratory.   He has received the NSERC Discovery Award, the NSF CAREER Award, the 2010 MERL President’s Award, and teaching awards from UofT, UW-Madison, and MIT. Professor Draper chairs the Machine Intelligence Major in the FASE Department of Engineering Science and is a member of the IEEE Information Theory Society Board of Governors.   

Professor Draper completed his BS (Electrical Engineering) and BA (History) degrees at Stanford University and his MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at MIT.
