Christopher Thompson received an HBA from the University of Toronto (UTM) in 2012.  He currently serves as the Executive Director of The Federation of Black Canadians, a national non-profit organization with over 13 employees across Canada that advances the social, economic, political and cultural interests of Canadians of African descent.  In 2016, Chris also founded a local charity in the Peel Region that focuses on life skills development for youth and young adults called Skills for Life. Mr. Thompson has over 15 years of experience in community engagement.   He has served on the Federation of Black Canadians as a Board Member and Governance Lead (2017-2020) and as the Chair of the Young Leaders Council, United Way of Peel Region (2014-2015).  He has developed grassroots organizations from having no funding and no staff to groups attaining between $ 100k- $ 2 million plus in annual budgets while managing over 20 staff collectively across several organizations.  He is also the founder and principal consultant of Chris Consulting Group, where the focus is preparing NFPs for success in a new age of challenges and opportunities.

Mr. Thompson’s volunteer engagement at UTM is extensive and includes the following:UTM Black Alumni Mentorship Program Mentor ( 2024); Centre for International Experience Alumni Keynote Speaker (2023); UTM Career Centre Alumni Panelist (2022); UTM Black Excellence Orientation Alumni Speaker (2021, 2023); Council of Presidents Member (2017-2018); UTM Alumni Competition Judge (2018); UTM 50th Anniversary Gala Speaker (2017); UTM Alumni Association President (2017-2019). He received the University’s Arbor Award ( 2019) and the  UTM Desmond Parker Outstanding Young Alumni Award (2024).
