B.i.3(a) of Code – forged and falsified record – academic dishonesty or misconduct, fraud or misrepresentation – Student forged, altered or falsified and circulated, or made use of a forged, altered or falsified transcript – Student did not attend the hearing – University Tribunal’s Rules of Practice and Procedure – Policy on Official Correspondence with Student – Panel was satisfied the hearing could proceed in the Student’s absence – finding of guilt – prior offence – the prior offence was an aggravating factor – forgery is widely recognised as a most serious academic offence – University of Toronto and S.W. (Case No. 948, April 16, 2020) – this offence deserves the most serious sanctions – University of Toronto and S.G. (Case No.: 1052, October 20, 2020) – the penalty must reflect the egregiousness of this type of misconduct in order to protect the credibility and integrity of academic institutions – immediate suspension from the University for a period not to exceed five years; a recommendation that the Student be expelled, as per s. C.ii(b)(i) of Code; and a report to the Provost for publication.
