Re: Consultations – On-Line Form and virtual Listening Sessions
The Presidential Search Committee began its work shortly after the announcement of its membership on May 17, 2024. At this stage the Search Committee is seeking input and advice that will help to inform the position specification and role profile for the next President of the University of Toronto. The views of all members of the University community, as well as those beyond our community who are knowledgeable about and interested in the University of Toronto, are important to the success of this search.
Comments may be submitted using the online consultation form. The online form will be open until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27. Submissions will be treated as confidential to the Search Committee.
The Search Committee is also engaging in an extensive schedule of consultations over the next two months. This will include virtual Listening Sessions. The dates and times for these are as follows:
- Wednesday, September 4 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Thursday, September 12 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, September 17 from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
If you are interested in providing your input at one of these Listening Sessions, please register using the online forms available on the Consultations webpage (registration is required). All participants are asked to review in advance the Protocol for Virtual Listening Sessions.
The Committee is seeking input and advice on:
- the principal strengths upon which the University should build over the next five to ten years;
- the principal challenges that the University will face in that period;
- the implications of those strengths and challenges for the new President, in two senses:
- the President's specific personal priorities in the near and long-term, and
- the specific priorities the President should ensure are achieved by others in the University community; and
- the key strengths and characteristics the Committee should therefore be seeking in a new President.
Given that many faculty, staff and students are away over the summer, we will send a reminder in early September about these opportunities to provide input into this process.
Finally, a reminder that all information about the Presidential Search can be found on the Search webpage. Questions may be directed to presidentialsearch@utoronto.ca.
Thank you for your interest in this important process.
