Graduation Checklist

Graduation Checklist

Before Convocation – Advance Planning: please note that you must have access to ACORN and UTmail.

1

Check your name as it appears in ACORN

When:

Before the March 19, 2020 name change deadline date.

How:

Select the Graduation & Convocation tab on ACORN and review your "name on diploma." If required, request name changes/corrections/accents.

Why:

Name changes requested after the March 19 name change deadline will be subject to an $80.00 diploma replacement fee.

2

Update your permanent address in ACORN

When:

By May 20.

How:

Select the Profile & Settings tab on ACORN.

Why:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent cancellation of in-person June 2020 ceremonies, all diplomas will be couriered to graduates. To ensure you receive your parchment, it is important that your address is current and complete.

Please ensure your address is accurate, complete and follows these guidelines:

  • Address: does not include a P.O. Box (we need a signature/other form of confirmation)
  • An adult must be available to receive the delivery and sign (or to follow the protocol at the time of delivery set by the courier company)
  • Deliveries are made during regular business hours. Please check that the address selected meets this requirement
3

Watch the virtual ceremony

When:

Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. EDT

How:

The virtual ceremony will be broadcast at https://www.utoronto.ca/convocation

Why:

The virtual ceremony is required for the Chancellor to confer degrees on June 2020 graduates in absentia.

4

Receive your diploma delivery

When:

Your diploma will be shipped to you via courier on your originally scheduled degree conferral date (original convocation ceremony date). To locate your degree conferral date, please refer to the date listings.

How:

You will receive an email from the courier company via your UTOR account email with the consignment/tracking number.

Why:

Your diploma delivery is insured against loss and damage. There will be special arrangements to confirm every recipient has received their diploma. Details are forthcoming but may include having the courier wait to visually confirm delivery.
