Dr. Elaine Khoo is an Associate Professor (Teaching Stream) at the Centre for Teaching and Learning where she is the Coordinator of the English Language Development Support. In the interest of equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility, she considers her work at the nexus of research and teaching to be a great opportunity to translate theory into practice, and have practice enrich theory. She works towards addressing diverse language development needs in ways that counter the deficit narrative on students who are disadvantaged due to their various intersectionalities.  She is passionate about governance and had served on the UTSC Campus Council since its inception in 2013.  She hopes that through pedagogy and governance she is able to contribute to inclusive excellence through attention to equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility in the academic community as well as community, to high-impact student engagement as well as to innovative approaches for addressing key issues impacting learning.
