WHAT TO WEAR
Most gowns, except for doctoral gowns, have a zippered front and normally fall to just below the knee. This is your celebration, please dress accordingly! Don’t forget your footwear – there will be long periods of standing and walking.
Many aspects of the event will take place outdoors, for instance your arrival, the procession from the marshalling room, after the event, etc. Please be sure that you and your guests dress appropriately for both the weather and the day. If you choose to wear a coat over your gown or use an umbrella for the procession into Convocation Hall, you will need to store the items under your seat in the Hall.
Regretfully, there is no coat check at either the marshalling area or Convocation Hall.
Arrival & Assembly
In order to ensure a memorable convocation experience for you and your guests, we kindly request that you follow the instructions below:
Please arrive 1.5 hours prior to the beginning of the ceremony and collect your academic regalia before proceeding to the marshalling rooms. Regalia can be collected in the Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MY), 55 St. George Street.
After collecting your regalia, please proceed to the Marshalling area to collect your marshalling card and to assemble for the procession. It is important that you arrive in the Marshalling Room at least 1 hour and 15 minutes before your ceremony. The Marshalling Room is also in the Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MY), 55 St. George Street.
Graduands will be placed in the order in which they will be presented to the Chancellor. It is essential to remain in this order to ensure accurate presentation to the Chancellor at the ceremony. Diplomas will be distributed at the ceremony after you have crossed the stage. Out of respect for fellow graduands, it is requested that the graduates return to their seats in the Hall after the diploma is collected and remain in their seats until all candidates have been presented to the Chancellor.
Please review the graduation checklist to ensure that you have completed all of the steps necessary for a successful convocation.
