As a friend or family member of one of our graduating students or honorary degree recipients, the University of Toronto welcomes you.
Ceremonies are held in Convocation Hall at 31 King's College Circle located 2 blocks west of University Avenue, 1 block north off College Street. Each ceremony usually lasts 30 to 90 minutes, and consists of a procession, the opening of convocation, admission to degrees, welcoming remarks, conferring of honorary degrees, an address by the honorary graduand or speaker, presentation of graduates, closing remarks and the singing of O Canada.
You will need tickets to attend Convocation. Seating in Convocation Hall is limited. We, therefore, limit our graduating students who are attending their ceremony to two guest tickets.
Because there is no reserved seating, we recommend that guests arrive early and are seated 30 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony to guarantee seating.
The graduand online RSVP and tickets system has not opened. It will be available to graduating students through ACORN from May 6 to 19, 2020.
Please note that there is no charge for guest tickets.
For family and friends who are unable to attend Convocation, our ceremonies are webcast live. Shortly after each ceremony the webcast is archived and will be available on this website.
The graduating student procession begins approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of each ceremony followed by the academic procession. You are welcome to photograph your graduate at any time from your seat. We ask that guests remain in their seat while taking photographs.
