Minutes of the College of Electors meeting held on February 24, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber:

- Chair’s Remarks
The Chair welcomed members and guests to the meeting.
On motion duly moved, seconded, and carried, the College moved In Camera.
- Election of Alumni Governors
The 2025-2026 Nominating Committee for Alumni Governors (NC-AG) reported to the College on the interviews of candidates that had been held and on the Committee’s recommendations.
Discussion of each candidate then took place and the NC-AG responded to questions posed by members.
The following were elected as alumni members of the Governing Council:
Brian Madden re-elected to the Governing Council, for a three-year term from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2029.
Grace Westcott re-elected to the Governing Council, for a three-year term from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2029.
Mark Surchin elected to the Governing Council, for a three-year term from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2029.
The Chair expressed thanks to the members of the College and the NC-AG for their work. The Chair reminded members about the importance of confidentiality regarding all of the candidates and the COE discussions, to be maintained in perpetuity.
On motion duly moved, seconded, and carried, the College moved into open session.
- Nomination Process 2026-2027 Executive Committee of the College of Electors (NC-EC)
The Chair provided some background information about the membership process for the Executive Committee outlined in the Constitution. Continuing members were encouraged to consider applying to serve on the 2026-2027 Executive Committee.
Members in their fourth year had previously volunteered at the May 12, 2024 COE meeting to serve on the 2025-2026 NC-EC. They were: Omar Bitar (University College), Eileen de Villa (Temerty Faculty of Medicine); and Sandra Griffith (UTSC).
Outgoing members of the Executive Committee, shared their experiences on the Committee.
The application deadline was March 19, 2026. The NC-EC would prepare a recommendation to the College for its final meeting in May. - Report of the Previous Meeting – January 20, 2026

The minutes of the meeting of January 20, 2026 were approved. -
Business Arising from the Report of the Previous Meeting
There was no business arising from the report of the previous meeting. - Date of the Next Meeting – May 7, 2026, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
The Chair noted that the next meeting of the College of Electors was scheduled to be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on May 7, 2026. -

There were no items of other business.
