Professor Jun Nogami
Jun Nogami is Professor of Materials Science & Engineering and leads the Nanostructure Growth and Characterization Lab at the University of Toronto. He served two terms as Chair of the Department of Materials Science & Engineering, from 2009 to 2019, and prior to that was Associate Chair in the Division of Engineering Science. Before joining the University of Toronto in 2004, Professor Nogami held professorial appointments at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Michigan State University.
Professor Nogami is a member of the Advisory Council at the Troost Institute for Leadership Education in Engineering at the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering. His interest in engineering leadership education and student teamwork arises from his experiences in supervising capstone design projects for Engineering Science, as well as his role as the faculty advisor for the U of T Human Powered Vehicle Design Team.
Professor Nogami received a BASc in Engineering Science from the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering at the University of Toronto and a PhD in Applied Physics from Stanford University. He is a Fellow of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science and the School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo.
